I guess many people know there are 2 printing methods for Display Tents: Silk screen printing & Dye-sublimation printing. However, most people have no idea of the difference between Silk screen printing & Dye-sublimation printing, or when to choose which printing method.

Based on my 10 years’ experience in advertising textile printing industry, here I summarize some points that you need to know when choosing the printing method for your custom tents.

Silk Screen Printing

As is well-known, Low Price is the first and direct reason that many people choose Silk screen printing. But as the most traditional printing method, it also has features of complicated & long production process, Not flexible PMS color match, require Minimum Order Quantity and Setting up Fees. Therefore Silk Screen Printing can not match the needs of small orders for fast delivery and customization.

Some Details are as follows:

1. There is restriction to Logo size, neither too big nor too small details can not be printed out;
2. Logo design and colors also have some restrictions, only accept simple design and solid color;
3. Common used fabric is 420D PVC, only Water Proof and UV Protection, NOT Flame Retardant.
4. Custom color fabric are not accepted, only stock color fabric for choice;
5. MOQ: 50pcs per design;
6. Complicated and long production process, 20-30days production time for an order to be made. First, need to set up the production printing plate, fix the printing plate, and start to print, it needs several time repeated printing to make sure the saturated logo, after each printing, you need to wait for it dry in the air.

Dye Sublimation Printing

With the digital printing method is increasingly mature and become international level, more and more people are willing to choose digital printing method because of its fast delivery and environmentally friendly. Dye Sublimation Printing is one of the digital printing method, which is widely used in advertising textile printing industry for Tents, Banners & Display Products.   Although dye sublimation printing price is higher than silk screen printing, but it is much more flexible for any custom order, easy production process and fast delivery.   

Some Details are as follows:

1. There is NO restriction to logo size, NO restriction to logo design or color, any size, any design  and any color are welcomed to print;
2. Common used fabric is 600D PU, a cheaper option is 300D PU, Water Proof, UV Protection and Flame Retardant.
3. Also NO restriction to fabric color, any color can be customized as per order request;
4. NO MOQ;
5. Simple production process: Order online and send to the factory directly – Overnight production – Ship the next morning;
6. Fastest Delivery: 4hours/ 24hours/ 48hours

To sum up, we can see that when there is a large quantity order, and not in a hurry need, if the logo is simple, Silk Screen Printing is a more economical solution. On the contrary, for regular small orders, to design what you want, deliver your brand philosophy in all aspects as far as possible, Dye Sublimation Printing is the only pick.
